The Corruption Will Continue

We have known for quite some time that there is only one member of the Springdale City Council that has enough nerve to question the good ol' boys' status quo in this town.

This is not the first time the Springdale Chamber of Commerce has been questioned about not providing adequate documentation to the city for how they spend taxpayer money.

On Tuesday night (12/13/11), Alderwoman Kathy Jaycox proposed establishing a committee to see that the Chamber provides the invoices for their expenditures as they have promised - and failed - to do for years.
“The city paid the chamber $227,000 this year,” Jaycox said. “I doubt the accuracy of the numbers presented by the chamber. We need more accountability and transparency from them.”
What does Perry Webb have to say about being questioned again?  Not much, of course.  He claims to receive all figures from the city clerk's office. What he fails to mention is that he is the one telling the city clerk who and what to pay.

Webb isn't worried, he has the mayor and the remaining council members willing to look the other way.  Webb seemed more concerned with which committee he is going to get Mayor Sprouse to increase next and it won't matter anyway, Webb controls all three.
“The A and P contract has not been raised since 1996 and the public facilities contract hasn’t been raised since 1998,” Webb said.
And just like the last time Mrs. Jaycox requested invoices from the Chamber of Commerce, no other member of the City Council said a word.  They're perfectly content giving our money to Webb to do whatever he pleases.

  1. Mrs. Jaycox, for the past 3 years or more has questioned the Chamber on thier expenses. Why is it So Difficult to Comply for the accountability of the taxpayers money??????New Businesses included Blue Fin Sushi on Sunset and The Tavern on 71B, south of Black Oak... Blue Fin Restaurant has been here over 3 years and The Tavern.....well,...forever! He included the Railroad expansion - what did the Chamber Specifically attribute? Why is Mrs. Jaycox always looking like the "bad guy" when there is only asking of accountability/transparency?? Seems the other council members are satisfied with "business as usual"....unbelievable! Time to hold All of them Accountable!!!!!!!!!

  3. Seeing the Federal agents swarming down on Emma yesterday in what appeared to be yet another serious raid of our fair city. I could only suggest that that 227 thousand dollars would be better used if directed to the Springdale Police Department. They are doing their job and are left to clean up this mess that these good old boys have created as they turn their heads on this city and its taxpayers. I am quite sure this particular building was yet another business Webb reports as one of his own. Mayor you should be ashamed of yourself. But then again you have served the purpose for those people that backed your election.(The Chamber) sits like a lump on a log while the corruption continues. Never a clue. Your leadership abilities are none. Your vision is secured by those that pull your chains. Mrs Jaycox - hold you head high as the ONE that continues to call a spade a spade and see theft as theft. As we continue down this road of corruption we will continue to attract the same. It does not matter how many press conferences the Chamber calls to report their many sucesses. We know different. And to the 7 spineless jellyfish sitting at the table your grandchildren will see what you have done being the puppets you are.

  4. Little Rock,Ar a city four times the size of Chickenopolis, provides their Chamber of Welfare only $200,000 per yr.

I truly think more Springdale people need to read this website.

  5. I imagine most of the fools posting on this site would have been first in line for the Jim Jones Kool-Aide party. Come on! Be the first to drink! Kathy says its GOOD STUFF!

What really happened was that Jaycox was trying to pull yet another political stunt motivated by her dislike of Webb. Thank God the Mayor and rest of the council had the wisdom to just ignore her little tirade. Her actions are truly starting to be an embarrassment for our city. It’s hard to attract retail when a city a city leader constantly makes such a fool of herself as it reflects poorly on the city’s image. Such behavior is better suited for our neighbors in Tontitown.

At this point one has to wonder if Jaycox is actually capable of producing an original thought. Everyone is well aware of her connection to the little group of loons that run this sight. They think they can bully and intimidate by posting garbage anonymously on a website. I think it just shows what cowards they really are. It’s just a sad little game by people that were apparently picked on too much in high school.

  6. Only Perry Webb would try to blame Jaycox for Springdale's failure to attract retail!!!!

Way to TRY and pass the buck for your lack of ANY economic development in this town, Perry.

If anyone is feeding people kool-aid it's Webb and if anyone is sucking it up through a straw it Doug Sprouse and his team of puppets on the city council.

  7. You know it's gonna be fun in Chickenopolis when the bomb goes off.
    .
    What bomb?

Glad you asked. The minority bomb. That bomb.
It will be a trickle at first, just a few hundred votes in a few precincts. Then grow and suddenly before you know it, a whole new group of voters with power to change an election outcome will be voting.
    .
The Good Ol Boys club will be out. New leaders, different values. More parks, more concerts, more public facilities things that make living in any city worthwhile.
    .
It's coming. Webb should have squirreled enough taxpayers' money away to keep him driving SUVs long enough. But Webb wanna-bes, not so much.
