"This is an exciting announcement for Springdale," said Sprouse. "Recruiting Dixie-Southern and adding new jobs for our residents is a home run. This would not have happened without a team effort by the city, the Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission."I hope the boys were able to take a vacation to celebrate these SIX new jobs!
"This is economic development at its best," said Perry Webb, Springdale Chamber of Commerce president.

ReplyDeleteHome run? Hell every taqueria in town has 6 employees. They just change locations every couple of months and Perry chalks up a new economic victory. Kind of like Bass PRO locating in Springdale. Or was it Cabela's that just opened at the ballpark?
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken.....Dixie Southern is just replacing Shiloh Steel. They are doing the same thing out of the same building. That's not growth.
ReplyDeleteThe new numbers Mr. Webb and the City spout are the numbers from existing business asking for a permits to add an awning. Or to expand by adding a side walk. Maybe even to expand by adding the adjoining office space to allow for storage. The name change of an existing business is not new business even if it was a sale. And the bond issue will do nothing for this City except to extend our current liability. Why would we give them a damn dime? Hell the mayor doesn't get to work till 9:30. Rogers has already closed on their next BIG BOX by 8:30 and looking for the next. Priorities!
