Jimmy Rutherford, 42, of Springdale was arrested Wednesday and charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, marijuana.
Rutherford claims he was growing vegetables in his backyard to sell at the farmer's market. He also claims some plants just sprouted up on their own and he thought they were tomatoes.
The value of the tomatoes that grew all by themselves was estimated by police to be worth $138,000.
Police conducted the search of Rutherford's home after receiving an anonymous tip.
Today's lesson is always be nice to your neighbors.

ReplyDeleteIn a time decades ago, and many miles south of here I used to grow 'African tomatoes'
ReplyDeleteAfter all, unless carefully planned, any NWA garden is rife with weeds and the mj stuff is another weed. However at one time in America's history mj was a "mandated crop," That's right, it was mandated that farmers dedicate so much acreage to the production of hemp to assure a young struggling nation that adequate rope fiber would be available. Rope was essential to our Navy and Army and a host of other industries.
So ingrained was the quality and durability of hemp rope that it took Dupont years to demonize and criminalize the wild growing weed so as to introduce their newly developed nylon fiber. Our rivers and lakes have never been the same since.
American drug laws are a form of insanity.
I had the pleasure of actually meeting this idiot not too long ago. I think he might be borderline retarded.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Rutherford is not the worlds smartest criminal.
A few years back, he committed this brilliant crime. Why he didnt spend longer in prison is amazing.
