Joy to the World

In November 2009, the Springdale Chamber of Commerce paid for Joy Heuer, Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and Eric Edelstein, Naturals General Manager to fly to Denver, Colorado for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Less than a month later, the chamber paid for another jaunt so these two could spend the Christmas holiday in sunny Orlando, Florida.

Edelstein admits they were a couple, making it even more unlikely these were actual business trips promoting the economic development of SPRINGDALE.

  1. Here you go again trying to smear the names of good people! I would be willing to bet that Eric participated in the sponsorship campaign. Therefore, he earned a percentage of what he sold - NOT to be confused with taxpayer money. Quit trying to tear down these great people!

  2. Sell your memberships and get off the public tit! Then no one will give a damn where you send your great people!

  3. Being "willing to bet" is not the same as knowing anything...or something.

  4. Saying that they are using taxpayer money for the trips is lying - much worse than "willing to bet."

  5. Where does it say anything about tax money?

  6. The problem here is that the CoC has refused to provide invoices like they promised to show how they spend taxpayer money and the Mayor refuses to make them. Until that happens, you can't really say whether donations from memberships or taxpayers paid for this. There is an easy fix to this you know.

  7. I don't know what "fix" you are talking about, I just know the people that you people have been smearing. They have been paid for a percentage of THEIR sales. The money that the City gets is never involved. If you people want to go after Perry - fine - he is an arrogant, self serving man, but leave the other people alone. They are good people. Also- ask your friend Ms. Jaycox if she paid for her City Future hotel. It has always bugged me that the Chamber paid for the Council, etc. to go to this. They should have paid their own way. It probably was City money!

  8. The couple opened themselves up for this when they accepted the vacation(s) from the COC. Good grief! Smear? What did they expect? Bon voyage from the taxpayers? Or welcome home little ones! This is just one more example of an inefficient Chamber. The Chamber sign should be changed to Free Booze Cruises

  9. No they did not - they should not have to put up with people like you. They participated in a chamber campaign and were paid in travel vouchers. Nothing involving taxpayer money. They should not be subjected to your BS.

  10. Had the money been separated this blog would not exist. But it wasn't, was it? So here we are seeing for ourselves just how effectively you spend our money. The Chamber, our little travel bunnies.

  11. I am actually not a chamber member myself, my employer is. It is not your money that is being spent. Participants are paid a percentage of what THEY bring in. If someone sells $1,000 worth of sponsorships, they receive a 15% commission, or $150. How can you say that they received "your" money? Quit lying about it!

  12. Some people just don't get it. If you or your employer choose to spend your money for this, that's fine. The ISSUE is the Chamber refuses to provide invoices to the citizens showing how TAXPAYER money is spent. Until they do, nobody can say who's money this was.

  13. Some people just don't get it - If they get a percentage of the money that they raise, it can in NO WAY be confused with the taxpayer money!

  15. I see! Mr. Moore sold $100,000.00 in memberships to get his $15,000.00 trip to Turkey. If he was truly a volunteer then that $15,000.00 would go back in the till to support the growth of Springdale and you wouldn't need our money nor a 1099. Problem solved! Sell more memberships.

  16. I really don't care about the Chamber and their money. What I am saying is that Moore (ESI guy), Edelstein (Naturals guy), Winesburg (Arvest guy), Gibson (Legacy Bank guy), Lawrence (Cargill guy), Mullikin, etc are all good people and do great things for the community. Their companies allowed them to participate in the campaign and more than likely footed the bill for most of the trips. The companies know full well how the campaign is done. They do it here and in Tulsa, too. I don't care about Perry and the Chamber, but saying bad things about these people is not right.

  17. $175k of "their money" is from the citizens of Springdale so if you live there you should care. Nothing bad was said about these people just that the chamber pays for some great trips (per the receipts).

  18. Now Joy is on the Fayetteville Chamber payroll ..... She sure gets around. The Fay Chamber is as secretive in their spending as Springdale. When is the last time anyone has "really" seen their expenditures. It is all rather general with very little accountability. Steve Clark berates his staff and demands cult like allegiance. Don't think any FCofC staff is willing to give out any information other than superfluous second-hand smoke.

  19. LMAO at it all. What BS. The Chamber is a useless waste of money and why nobody noticed sooner is beyond me.

  20. The Fayetteville COC is obviously doing something right, because Fayetteville is in great shape. Springdale, however, is the SWEATY ARMPIT of Northwest Arkansas. The Springdale COC is constantly patting themselves on the back (and flying themselves around the world) for bringing in soooo much great business, but where the hell is it? Stop going on vacation and get to work.
