Hogs at the Trough

Quick compilations created by us to give you an overview of how the Springdale Chamber of Commerce spends their dining dollars.

Dining compilation sorted by date
Dining compilation sorted by restaurant

It's obvious they didn't spread the wealth of local dining dollars equally. There were a select few restaurants in town frequented almost daily.

  1. I was sitting here earlier this evening rather depressed and wondering what to make for dinner. I stumbled (sort of) upon this site. Although we are hard-working Americans we have no money for the grocery store and haven't had milk in several days. We make do with what we have which is almost nothing since my husband was laid off over a year ago and unemployment has run out.

I was compelled for some reason to come back and hope the chamber of commerce would read this.

Do you know what my kids would do for a lousy pizza or burger? Better yet, do you know what they would do if they got what they wanted for Christmas?

You have the unabashed gall to spend thousands of dollars on one meal in DC to help our city?

Have you people NO shame at all? No need to answer that really.

  2. 9:13,

I was moved by your post. Let me know how I can help you out this Christmas. I would be more than happy to get meals to you and your family, and let me know a few things your kids want and how I can get them to you. In addition, I will be praying that things get better for you!

  3. It's too bad about your family. But you could probably afford some milk if you cancelled your monthly internet service.

  4. Ahhh I see a post from our Chamber. Rude and non caring about their fellow man. If she canceled her internet service she would not stand a chance of seeing job postings or how her dollars are being wasted on the non preformance of the Chamber. Your day will come! Santa is watching.

  5. It's called fifty cents for the newspaper to get job information. But too bad she won't get the information on this blog in the paper. I guess if it wasn't all BS then it would be media worthy.

  6. She didn't ask for a handout Dotson, you moron. She was making a statement about how piggish the Chamber's spending is when so many people are struggling.

In addition, almost all companies post job openings on the internet. Inlcuding the chamber.

The only local non-paper is useless. The only advertising is the crap the Chamber posts about themselves because they get it for FREE!

  7. Newpaper what newpaper? That would be about the same as making a contribution to the Chamber and actually expecting some type of return on your investment.LOL

  8. What is wrong with you people? I think what the lady (9:13pm) was getting at is when they run out, they do without but the COC continues to vacation, buy themselves clothes and chowdown for free! I for one agree with her - it's just not right.

    11:23am - that was a kind gesture.

I agree with some other posters too that the local paper is now a complete waste of 50 cents.

  9. I went on one of these trips a few years ago. When I went, I paid the Chamber $1,500 up front and they took care of the two dinners, hotel, and airplane. They didn't BUY us anything. It was put on the Chamber card, because we had already paid for it.

Sorry Anita, but you and your lunch crew (Jaycox, Joy Drummonds, and Patsy Christy) need to try to dream something else up!!!!!
